Grampa Neutrals With A Splash Of Dijon

Grampa Neutrals With A Splash Of Dijon: Thrifted Vintage JCPenney Gray Oversized Cardigan, Thrifted Vintage Faux Silk Cream Collared Shirt, Levi’s Black Skinny Jeans, American Apparel Mustard Stockings, ModCloth Shiny Black Penny Loafers, ModCloth Gold Bow Ring

I love vintage menswear–suspenders, cardigans, pleated high-waisted pants, stockings–there is something intrinsically whimsical about wearing these items–and adding a splash of color instills some quirky femininity to the mix. This outfit kind of reminds me of my childhood best friend’s grandparents. They were very consistent in their outfitting–she would always be wearing a pretty blouse tucked in to pants paired with simple flats with her hair pinned up on one side and he always wore cardigans over collared shirts and truckers hats with the ropes. Something about Marge’s sweet 50′s style and Pops’ ruthless love of 1970′s pocketed collared short-sleeved shirts was fascinating to me and stayed with me. I think it speaks volumes about what clothes actually are. They are like captured elements of a person’s spirit.
